Gear and Fuel

I don't have a lot of fancy stuff for running.  It's mostly what I can afford.

Shoes:

Merrell Trail Glove: I've been running in these since they were released last spring and wore them all summer in China.  I love the shoe - it's light and flexible with a large toe box.  I don't wear socks while I run in them and the result is they rarely come inside due to the smell.  But my shoes always smell, so no big deal.  I like the traction and run on and off road in them.  Since I bought this shoe, Merrell has released the road glove.  I would love to get my hands on a pair of those and see how they compare.

Performance Tracking:
Garmin Forerunner 50 with heart rate monitor and foot pod.  Yes, there are newer and better ways of measuring your performance.  Yes, there are smaller watches.  But I got a great deal and this thing is simple and relatively accurate.  The software is straightforward and it makes it easy to track my cadence (not possible with only gps watches).  Batteries are easy to find and they last a good amount of time.
