The sun seemed to call me out of bed this morning into my run. I knew the forecast is rain today (don't worry it's coming), but this morning greeted my tired face with (cold) blue skies and sunshine. I'm glad I had already planned to run along the river. Crossing over the bridges by campus as the sun is peeking is so beautiful I have to stop running and take a deep breath of creation. It fills my heart for the day.
Physically, I felt pretty good. Right at the beginning of the run, my right knee did that weird twinge of pain it throws off sometimes - especially playing basketball. But it didn't bother me the rest of the run. I think I was able to hold my form relatively cleanly for the 5 miles, except maybe up the hill through campus. I busted out the foam roller and a rolling pin at home and worked some kinks out of my ITBs and my quads. I had some mega knots on the inside of the quads above the knees - really tender. I tend to neglect those areas but given my knee problems in the past, I need to make sure I work all the muscle groups around the area. Right calf was knotted up pretty tight but after some stretching and rolling, it loosened right up.
